Full Advisory Text
Warning Description: Special Statement

Warning Date: 2:28 am PST on February 7, 2012

WarningSum:...Wet Weather Expected Later Today Through Tonight...

Warning Message:A storm system will drop southeast...off the coast through
Wednesday...spreading clouds and light precipitation across Southern
California. The rain is expected to begin late today or this
evening...but timing is uncertain due to the storms path...and a
deep dry layer near the surface.
The rainfall is expected to be light to moderate...with most areas
getting less than a quarter inch through Wednesday morning.
However...heavier amounts are possible if the storm tracks a little
closer to the coast than expected.
The snow level will be around 6000 feet. Some locations in the San
Bernardino and Riverside County mountains could receive some
accumulating snow...but amounts look to be quite light.
Some roads may be slick...especially during the onset of the rain...
since it will have been more than two weeks since it last rained.
Snowfall in the mountains may cause slippery roads above 6000 feet.
Although a few showers will linger across San Diego County on
Wednesday morning...drier conditions will develop by the afternoon
and continue through the remainder of the week.

115 PM PST Mon Feb 6 2012
...Wet weather returns to southwestern California Tuesday afternoon
and Tuesday evening...
A Pacific weather system will move into southwestern California
Tuesday afternoon and evening...bringing periods of light
precipitation to the region. Periods of light rain will begin
around midday across coastal Orange County and the northern
areas...before spreading south and east during the afternoon and
early evening. Most of the rainfall will be light to moderate...with
precipitation amounts remaining primarily less than a quarter
inch in most areas from the mountains west to the coast. The
deserts will receive only a few hundredths.
The snow level will be around 6000 feet. Some locations in the San
Bernardino and Riverside County mountains could receive up to three
inches of new snowfall.
Roadways could be slippery...especially during the onset of the
rain and during the afternoon rush hour due to oil buildup on the
roads...as it will have been more than two weeks since the last
rain. Snowfall in the mountains may cause slippery roadways
above 6000 feet.
Although a few showers will linger across San Diego County on
Wednesday morning...drier conditions will develop by the
afternoon and continue through the remainder of the week.
